- Fold
No tools are required for folding. Remove the front wheel and flip the quick release lever on the top tube, and the bike folds in less than 30 seconds. If you forget the retightens the QR after unfolding, a safety lock prevents the frame from folding. - Cable Routing
The intense attention to detail when designing the Montague Paratrooper led to a unique cable routing design that allows the bike to completely fold without disrupting the cable housing. This means that neither the brake or shifter cables are crimped or stressed by folding the Paratrooper, a concept that greatly expands the life of the components. - Disc Brake
While rim brakes work great in most conditions, disc brakes provide more stopping power and perform even when subjected to the harshest conditions. For these reasons Montague insisted the Paratrooper be spec'd with a 160mm disc brake on the front of the paratrooper. Not only does this brake add to braking performance, but it allows removal of the front wheel to be accomplished in record time, making folding the bike much easier. - Suspension
The Montague Paratrooper was built to take on everything. Knowing the type of demanding riding to which soldiers would subject the bike, Montague gave the bike a plush 65mm of front suspension. This helps to ease the impact of big drops, rough terrain, and heavy loads, keeping the ride as smooth as possible. - Ergonomics and Performance
For long hours on the bike, comfort is a must, hence the Paratrooper shows off an impressively ergonomic cockpit and a plush double density saddle. Crisp shifting and easily actuated brake levers combined with comfortable grips rid the riders hands of cramps and unwanted fatigue. The fully adjustable saddle assures the rider is positioned correctly when pedaling while assuring comfort. - F.I.T. System
The Paratrooper frame is constructed around Montague's patented F.I.T.™ system. This design eliminates the need to break the frame in order to fold the bike. Not only does this make folding easier but it makes this bike the strongest folding bike on the market. Our Folding Integrated Technology is based around frame construction concepts designed for serious full suspension downhill bikes. - Strength
Combined with the F.I.T.™ system, the Paratrooper frame is designed give the user full folding ability, while fully eliminating the frame flex and "sloppy" feeling associated with many folding bikes. The result is an innovative frame design that has a unique and striking appearance and stiff but nimble frame. - Rugged Tires
With a frame designed to take you anywhere, you'd better have the tires to match. Deep mountain style treads channel both mud and water away from the tires leaving them to bite down and grip hard on any terrain. Thick nylon siding and treads leave the rider ready to deal with sharp rocks and particularly aggressive trails. - Drivetrain
The SRAM X-5 rear derailleur and drivetrain gives the rider a full 24 speeds to tackle uphills and technical sections. Complimenting SRAM X-5 trigger shifters give precise shifting delivered almost instantly while the rest of the drivetrain clears sand, rubble, and rocks without breaking a sweat.
